Rhonda Perrigan Chafin
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee
Rhonda Chafin has been the Executive Director of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee since 1993. The Second Harvest Food Bank, under the direction of Ms. Chafin, became a “Certified” food bank of Feeding America in 1994 National Network food banks. In 1996, Ms. Chafin led the food bank to a successful Building Capital Campaign and relocated the food bank to Gray, Tennessee in 1998.
From 1998 to present, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee has continued to grow by starting new initiatives to help feed more people in need; Kids Café, Food for Kids, a back pack kids program, Prepared and Perishable Rescue Foods Program, Mobile Food Bank and Mobile Pantry Programs. In 2009, the food bank distributed approx. 6.8 million pounds of food to over 200 non-profit charities that feed the hungry in the eight county region of Northeast Tennessee.
Rhonda Chafin is a native of Bristol, Tennessee and a graduate of Virginia Intermont College with a B.A. Degree in Business Administration. She has been a member of the Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City, Unicoi County and Johnson County Leadership programs, Bristol Sullivan County Jaycees, Mountain Empire Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Twin Cities Civitans.
Rhonda currently serves on the local Federal Emergency Management Association Board for Sullivan County, and Co Chair of the Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster and Safety & Stability Vision Council for Kingsport United Way.
