Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee operates a variety of programs for member agencies.
The Food Bank Warehouse: Agencies obtain food and grocery products from the Food Bank warehouse. These items are then given to those in need through food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters and other organizations that distribute food to the needy in Northeast Tennessee.
Food Rescue: Perishable and prepared food is collected from restaurants, caterers, grocery stores, and other food vendors then redistributed to agencies making more nutritious food available to people in need. Perishable food is also distributed through the Mobile Food Pantry program.
Kids Cafes: Provides nutritious snacks, meals and nutrition education to agencies that serve food to primarily low-income or at-risk children. Through partnerships with after-school programs and community organizations, ten cafes have been established to date.
Mobile Food Bank: Many rural agencies lack sufficient funding or manpower to transport food from the Food Bank warehouse to their facilities so deliveries are made for a minimum charge.
