About Second Harvest Food Bank Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee

Second Harvest Food Bank is a non-profit organization serving the eight counties in northeast Tennessee with emergency food for distribution. We secure food from national manufacturers, grocers, and individuals and redistribute it to 200 food pantries, soup kitchens, children’s homes, and other non-profit charities that feed the hungry in our region.

Our principal goal is to help create a community where people at risk for hunger always have somewhere to turn for food assistance. Ultimately our vision is to insure that people in need always have access to nutritious food in Northeast Tennessee. We work every day to get closer to these goals. We go out in the community and identify areas where there is no safety net for people at risk for hunger – where people are going unserved. In those areas we actively work to find ways to provide food assistance – either by encouraging local organizations to begin or expand their hunger relief work, or by providing direct assistance to those in need.
